Education

Schooling is an extremely important factor to take into consideration while deciding to live somewhere, and the schools in the Wood River Valley are some of the top public and private schools in all of Idaho. The public school district, Blaine County School District, offers a top of the line public education to students of all ages. With an elementary school in each region of the Valley –Hemingway Elementary School in the Ketchum/Sun Valley area, Hailey Elementary and Woodside Elementary in the Hailey area, and Bellevue Elementary in the Bellevue and South Valley area –students begin their love of learning at a very young age. Once they begin to grow and expand their knowledge, students move to Wood River Middle School for sixth through seventh grades, and Wood River High School for ninth through twelfth grades.

The Wood River Valley is also proud to offer a private education for students at The Community School, located in Sun Valley. With only 307 students in the K-12 independent school, The Community School offers close teacher-student relationships, and a different way of learning. The Community School is best known for their outdoor program. Every year in the fall, students in grades six through twelve group up and backpack and camp for three days all over the Sawtooth Valley. Each class also has a fall, winter, and spring outdoor trip, where students learn not only to embrace the outdoors, but also to foster personal growth, teamwork, and leadership. The Community School welcomes different learning styles and adapts to best fit the students' needs.
